Northrop Grumman is seeking an Engineering Technician 1 to support the Integration, Test & Launch (IT&L) organization in Redondo Beach, California.

This position provides an opportunity to work directly with space flight hardware in a hands-on engineering and manufacturing environment. The Engineering Technician will assemble, integrate, and test flight hardware while following blueprints, technical specifications, production documentation, and work instructions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical tools, understands basic mechanical principles, can work with delicate and ESD-sensitive hardware, and is comfortable working in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, integrate, and test space flight hardware.
  • Read and follow blueprints, specifications, production documentation, and work instructions.
  • Handle delicate and ESD-sensitive flight hardware using appropriate procedures.
  • Use mechanical and electrical tools to perform hardware assembly and integration.
  • Assist with integration and testing activities.
  • Interpret production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Use measurement tools and devices to support assembly and inspection activities.
  • Assist with assembly of non-flight Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Follow established safety, quality, ESD, and production procedures.
  • Work effectively with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional team members.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work environment.
  • May occasionally work with forklifts, cranes, and associated rigging equipment.
  • Lift and handle items weighing up to 35 lbs. when required.
  • Document work activities and communicate issues to appropriate personnel.
Basic Qualifications
  • 2 5 years of relevant hands-on experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions.
  • Ability to work with computers and Microsoft tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to safely handle delicate hardware.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical tools and hardware.
  • Experience reading production specifications and diagrams.
  • Experience interpreting assembly drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience using precision measurement devices.
  • Experience working with ESD-sensitive hardware.
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
  • Space hardware assembly or integration experience.
  • Experience with Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Experience in integration, test, manufacturing, or production environments.
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes, or rigging equipment.

Work Environment

This is an onsite position at Northrop Grumman's Space Park facility in Redondo Beach, California . The position supports a hands-on integration, test, and launch environment involving precision space flight hardware.

Candidates should be comfortable working around delicate hardware and following strict safety, quality, ESD, and production requirements.

Contract-to-Hire

This position is intended to be contract-to-hire . While conversion to a full-time Northrop Grumman position is the intent, conversion is not guaranteed and is subject to business requirements and company approval.
