Sr. Electrical Engineer, Construction (Starlink)SpaceX is leveraging our experience building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation and most advanced broadband internet system. The Starlink team is seeking out the best-in-class professionals to maximize Starlink's potential for communities and businesses around the globe.As a member of the SpaceX Construction Projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers and specialists across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at the Starlink Production Facility as well as other SpaceX Facilities. This role is responsible for the design, build, and activation of infrastructure, facilities improvements and large capital projects. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change in a fast-paced environment. You will own projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth.Responsibilities:Lead the project team, consulting engineers and contractors, throughout the entirety of the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning process for power-specific scope itemsCollaborate with the multi-discipline SpaceX Construction Projects team by performing engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities for a variety of critical and fast-paced company projectsDevelop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type projectsWrite, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-outResolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-timeCoordinate with electrical utility provider for design/engineering to ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructureCollaborate with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholders to ensure that all equipment interfaces properly with other mechanical and electrical systems, including compatibility with facility power budgetsEnsure all electrical designs and installations conform to applicable codes and regulationsProvide code review and analysis utilizing NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, Vol 5 & 6 AFSPCMAN 91-710, and IBCBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology6+ years of professional experience with the design and/or build of commercial or industrial power systemsPreferred Skills and Experience:8+ years of years of professional experience in a similar role with electrical and power distribution systems (<600Vac)Professional Engineering (PE) licenseWorking knowledge of delta/wye transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, building lighting, building construction specifications, and facility groundingExperience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switchesExperience working alongside technicians and specialist on troubleshooting and repair of electrical systemsFamiliarity with AutoCAD/RevilFamiliarity with the National Electric Code, National Fire Protection Association, and International Building CodeAbility to read and understand power and control schematics and technical equipment operation and maintenance (O&M) manualsExperience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), industrial pumps, MODBUS communication, medium-voltage distribution and control panel design and productionWorking knowledge of power coordination and arc flashAdditional Requirements:Physical ability to perform hands-on work in various environments, including heat, cold, rain, and tight quartersAbility to work onsite at our Bastrop, TX facility (Remote work not considered)Ability to work extended hours and weekends as neededAbility to travel as neededValid driver's licenseAbility to lift up to 25 lbs. unassistedITAR Requirements:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
