Job Description

We are seeking a highly collaborative and strategic part-time temporary Graphic Designer to join our Creative Services & Branding team for a 3 to 6-month assignment. This role is responsible for executing high-impact visual design across print, digital, and environmental platforms.

The ideal candidate does not just layout text and images, they are a visual storyteller who understands how to translate complex institutional strategies and narratives into compelling, brand-aligned visual assets. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver projects that protect, elevate, and advance our institutional brand identity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Creative Services & Brand Director, the duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:



1. Brand Asset & Content Creation

• Design and produce a wide range of marketing and communications materials, including brochures, merchandise design, social media graphics, event collateral, email templates, and presentation decks.
• Apply a strong understanding of typography, layout, and color theory to ensure all creative output adheres strictly to established institutional brand guidelines.
• Translate complex data, strategic plans, and institutional metrics into clear, engaging infographics and data visualizations.

1. Project Execution & Collaboration

• Manage a high volume of design projects from concept through final production, consistently meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality.
• Collaborate effectively with communicators, event staff, and web teams to ensure a cohesive visual narrative across multimedia campaigns.
• Prepare print-ready files and coordinate directly with external print vendors to ensure accurate production and quality control.

1. Digital & Modern Tech Integration

• Optimize visual assets for web, mobile, and social media platforms, ensuring maximum engagement and technical compliance.
• Utilize modern creative tools and asset management workflows to maintain a highly organized digital library of templates and visual components.
• Helps to manage, catalog, store, retrieve and tag the College's digital assets (photographs, videos, logos/brand marks, college seal, etc., within the digital asset management system.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 3 years of professional graphic design experience (agency or higher education experience is a major plus).
• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• A robust professional portfolio that demonstrates a strong command of brand identity, layout, typography, and cross-platform design (print and digital).
• Must have advanced technical skills using the Adobe Creative Suite with expert-level knowledge using InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Advanced knowledge in creating graphics, templates and workflows in Canva. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate design choices and present concepts clearly to internal partners.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, pivot quickly when priorities shift, and maintain a proactive approach to project management.
