Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Deerfield Beach, FL Area
Work Environment: Onsite
Compensation: 80,000-130,000+/Year
We are an established heavy civil construction company in the Deerfield Beach area that is looking to add an experienced Estimator to its team. This is a strong opportunity for someone with a background in heavy civil construction, roadway, utilities, earthwork/dirt, or infrastructure projects who wants to take on a key role within the estimating function. The team is especially interested in someone who is seasoned, technically strong, and capable of growing into a larger leadership role over time.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects
- Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, and cost-saving opportunities
- Coordinate with Project Managers, field teams, and leadership throughout the bidding process
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and historical cost data
- Assist with bid preparation, proposals, and project handoff
- Support change order pricing and additional estimating needs as projects progress
- Stay current on market pricing, labor costs, and construction trends
Qualifications:
- Previous estimating experience within heavy civil construction
- Experience with roadway, utilities, earthwork/dirt, infrastructure, or similar projects
- Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and quantity takeoffs
- Field experience is highly preferred
- Experience with Primavera P6 is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Microsoft Suite
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines at once
- PE license or other relevant construction certifications/licenses are a plus
- Must be comfortable working onsite; this is not a remote position
