Summary This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), Office of Satellite Products and Operations (OSPO), with 1 vacancy in Fairbanks, AK; College Park, MD; Silver Spring, MD; Suitland, MD; Asheville, NC; Boulder, CO; Fort Collins, CO; and Madison, WI or Stennis Space Center, MS. You must apply to both announcements if you want to be considered for both. As an Engineering Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Oversee the design and integration parameters such as, but not limited to mechanical, structural, electrical, environmental, industrial, manufacturing, and chemical engineering.
- Determine nature and scope of project requirements and preliminary planning for design feasibility of local fabrication versus procurement, adaptability, cost and maintenance considerations.
- Provide technical guidance on vehicle and machinery specifications appropriate for use in the local climate while monitoring fleet vehicle usage, maintenance, and life cycle.
- This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle.

- Payment of relocation expenses (PCS) is not authorized.

- This position requires Moderate Security Clearance.
- Background investigation will be required. Continued employment is subject to applicant's successful completion of security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

- Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.
- Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.
- Providing technical support for essential building services and systems including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and waste management on a routine and emergency basis;
- Providing support for grounds and road maintenance, as well as site safety programs; and
- Generating annual maintenance budgets and validating contractor proposals.
- Copy of your RIF separation notice; notice of proposed removal for failure to relocate; notice of disability annuity termination; certification from your former agency that it cannot place you after your recovery from a compensable injury; or certification from the National Guard Bureau or Military Department that you are eligible for disability retirement;
- Copy of your SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action" documenting your RIF separation, noting your positions, grade level, and duty location, and/or Agency certification of inability to place you through RPL, etc;
- Copy of your latest performance appraisal including your rating; and
- Any documentation from your agency that shows your current promotion potential.
- Copy of your specific RIF notice; notice of proposed removal for failure to relocate; a Certificate of Expected Separation (CES); or certification that you are in a surplus organization or occupation (this could be a position abolishment letter, a notice eligibility for discontinued service retirement, or similar notice).
- Copy of your SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action", noting current position, grade level, and duty location;
- Copy of your latest performance appraisal including your rating; and
- Any documentation from your agency that shows your current promotion potential.
- SF-50, "Notification of Personnel Action": You must provide the most current Notification of Personnel Action (SF-50) that verifies career/career-conditional status, title, series, and highest grade level held on a permanent basis for your previous position, AND the SF-50 that verifies your separation date; AND
- Performance Appraisal: Most recent performance appraisal showing the official rating of record, signed by a supervisor, or statement why the performance appraisal is unavailable.
