SAS strives to employee individuals who possess a strong work-ethic; are committed to providing children with boundless opportunities; and who understand that equity, inclusion and social justice are essential to the success of a school community in the 21st Century.QualificationsRequired Education/CertificationExcellent driving record with five (5) years experience.Able to meet all other requirements as set forth by the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Department of Transportation for school bus drivers.Preference will be granted to those applicants who possess proper CDL license (B, P, S endorsements).Required ExperienceEmployee must be physically present and alert at all times when working to successfully perform this job.Must be able to physically perform the tasks of the job, (including but not limited to pre and post trip vehicle inspections, basic vehicle cleaning and assisting students when necessary)Responsibilities & DutiesFollow precise schedules and routes.Adjust driving according to traffic and weather conditions.Follow rules of the road, ensuring safety of children.Maintain orderliness among children riding the bus.Monitor and promptly report any mechanical issues.Approximate substitute driving hours: 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 2:10 pm. - 5:00 p.m.; other bus trips are voluntary.Essential DutiesUse computer systems and software applications (e.g., time tracking, facility work orders) as needed.Organize and coordinate tasks independently and effectively.Maintain clear, respectful, and effective verbal and written communication.Prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.Demonstrate flexibility, problem-solving, and strong attention to detail.Participate in self-evaluation and professional development.Foster cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and community members.Demonstrate exemplary attendance, punctuality, and reliability.Physical and Mental Demands, Work HazardsWork takes place in a school-aged environment requiring mobility, visual and auditory acuity, communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, adaptability, technology proficiency, physical stamina and environmental awareness. This position may involve sitting or standing for long periods.
