Warehouse Group Leader

Position Purpose The Group Leader role at SRS Building Products oversees the warehouse area, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures while spearheading safety, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives. This leader supervises and mentors Team Leaders and Associates, drives improvements in quality, delivery, cost, and safety through effective training and problem‑solving, and collaborates with other departments to support the annual operating plan and new product launches. Key Responsibilities Direct Supervision and Oversight: Lead and manage Team Leaders and Associates to ensure seamless operation, high productivity, safety, quality, and compliance. Strategic Planning and Budget Management: Develop and execute an annual operating plan, manage capital and expense budgets, and meet financial commitments. Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Drive improvement projects focused on quality, cost reduction, and safety using root cause analysis and lean manufacturing principles. Training and Development: Identify training needs and implement learning and development programs for team members. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments for new product launches and operational cohesion. Problem Solving and Decision Making: Diagnose operational issues, develop strategic solutions, and implement corrective actions. Safety and Compliance Management: Champion safety protocols and compliance standards, addressing safety concerns proactively. Communication and Team Facilitation: Establish clear communication channels with team leaders and members to maintain smooth workflows. Minimum Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred in a related field. Certificates or diplomas from an accredited college or skill center in machining or machine tool manufacturing are highly desired. Experience Minimum of five years in a high‑volume manufacturing environment. Three or more years of supervisory experience strongly preferred. Experience operating manufacturing equipment and troubleshooting. Skills and Competencies Strong leadership and decision‑making ability. Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and mechanical blueprints. Proficiency in problem‑solving using statistical and root‑cause analysis tools. Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with production control in mass‑production environments. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and proactively address problems. Technical Proficiencies Operate computerized equipment and use PC applications. Willingness to attend technical training sessions. Other Requirements Availability to work any assigned shift, including overtime and weekends as necessary. Ability to maintain composure under stress and in emergency situations. Commitment to fostering a high‑morale environment and supporting company policies. Ability to train and develop team members. Work in an environment with moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Educational Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering. Leadership Experience: Over five years leading teams in high‑volume industrial environments. Lean Manufacturing Expertise: Certified in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma. Technical Proficiency: Extensive background in CNC machinery and CAD/CAM software. Project Management Skills: Proven track record managing large‑scale projects. Change Management: Experience leading organizational change initiatives. Safety and Quality Acumen: Strong knowledge of safety regulations and QMS. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exemplary communication and teamwork facilitation. Problem Solving and Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical capabilities with statistical tools. Cultural Competency: Experience in multicultural environments and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
