Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 1 year of Emergency Department experience required; 3+ years of nursing experience preferred License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong IV skills, cardiac rhythm interpretation, medication titration, knowledge in STEMI/CVA/Sepsis treatments Description: This position is for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse. The facility is a Level IV Trauma Center with a Level III NICU. It handles a variety of patient types, including neonates to geriatric patients. The average number of patients per day ranges from 100 to 200. Patient ratios are 1:3-4 during the day and 1:4-5 during the night. Required skills include general Emergency Department skills, strong IV skills, and the ability to interpret cardiac rhythms. Candidates should also be knowledgeable in foley placement, NGT placement, and medication management. Support on the unit includes a CNA, a 24/7 receptionist, and a charge nurse who takes patient assignments as needed. Additional resources include an ED educator available Monday through Friday, phlebotomy assistance, and an IV/VAT team. Telemetry monitoring is conducted at the bedside and from the nurses' station. Familiarity with EMR is required, specifically within the last two years. The technology and equipment used include IV pumps and medication dispensing systems. Travelers may be required to float based on facility needs but will not take on patient assignments. Candidates must adhere to a professional dress code for scrubs.
