Job Opportunity: Metabolic Geneticist
Our organization is actively seeking a full-time Board Certified/Eligible Metabolic Geneticist to join the Department of Pediatrics. This role includes a faculty appointment at our School of Medicine, which will be aligned with your training and experience.
This position presents a fantastic opportunity for both newly trained and seasoned clinician-educators who possess a keen interest in various aspects of clinical genetics, particularly in metabolic genetics. The responsibilities associated with this role encompass:
- Providing patient care
- Conducting inpatient consultations
- Managing outpatient genetic clinics
- Collaborating in multidisciplinary team environments
- Teaching medical students and residents
- Engaging in research activities
We offer dedicated research time and encourage a focus on research initiatives. There are numerous opportunities for both intramural and extramural collaboration, as well as program development. The clinical genetics practice here is remarkably diverse, allowing for extensive experience in various fields, including:
- Neurogenetics
- Cardiogenetics
- Cancer genetics
- Dysmorphology
- Congenital anomalies
Additionally, a new inpatient facility is set to open later this year, enhancing our capabilities.
Our clinical laboratory is in the process of establishing a cutting-edge genetic and genomic testing facility, aimed at delivering comprehensive diagnostic services throughout the health system and the Inland Empire region.
Our School of Medicine also offers an accredited graduate program (MS) in genetic counseling, further enriching our educational environment.
Strategically located in Southern California, our Medical Center and Children's Hospital boasts the largest Level IV NICU in the state, catering to approximately 25% of California's needs. The Children's Hospital is among the few centers in California specializing in pediatric cardiac transplants and ECMO, and is developing a Perinatal Care Center focused on prenatal diagnosis to better support high-risk pregnancies and infants with congenital anomalies diagnosed prenatally. Our facilities also support specialized team centers for conditions such as cystic fibrosis, hemoglobinopathies, spina bifida, and craniofacial anomalies.
Compensation and BenefitsThe starting base salary for this position ranges from $238,000 to $278,000, adjusted based on your years of experience and faculty rank. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity incentives, which are determined by departmental compensation plans. Detailed discussions regarding compensation will occur during the recruitment process.
