You open the building, manage the flow of inbound and outbound freight, keep inventory accurate, and make sure every order — from will‑call pulls to outgoing branch transfers — moves correctly and on time. This is a high‑ownership role. You are not waiting for direction on what needs to happen — you already know. Sales orders need follow‑up, transfers need to close clean, POs need to be received and put away before the floor gets behind. When the wire area is tagged and organized, when cycle counts are current, when discrepancies are resolved the same day they are found, the whole branch runs better. The DC branch is a high‑visibility location. How this warehouse runs reflects directly on Shepherd’s commitment to the customers we serve in this market. How This Role Connects To Our Compass We Keep Our Promises: You open at 5:00 a.m. sharp. Transfers close with discrepancies resolved. POs are received accurately and put away the same day. When you take on a task, it gets done — not partially, not later. We Stay Hungry: You flag patterns — recurring inventory gaps, discrepancy trends, wire area issues — and bring your manager ideas, not just observations. You look for ways to tighten the operation, not just maintain it. We Grow Together: You coordinate proactively with writers on Direct SOs, with drivers, and with other branches receiving your transfers. The rest of the branch can rely on the DC warehouse because you make it reliable. We Own It: Discrepancies get resolved before you leave. Manifests close clean. Direct SO follow‑up happens without being asked. You do not leave loose ends for the next shift or the next person. We Go Above & Beyond: Will‑call customers don’t wait. Delivery prep is done before it’s needed. The warehouse is organized and clean not because it’s required — but because you take pride in the environment you run. Key Outcomes Opening & Branch Operations Open the branch at 5:00 a.m. sharp — every day, reliably, without follow‑up needed Set the operational tone for the day: warehouse ready, priorities identified, work moving before others arrive Inbound Receiving & Inventory Unload, receive, and put away early AM tagged freight and stock transfers; close manifests after all discrepancies are resolved Receive and put away PO shipments from UPS, FedEx, and trucking carriers accurately and promptly Meet the DC branch’s monthly cycle count goal Follow up on and resolve inventory‑related discrepancies the same day they are identified Manage the wire area: tag reels with lot numbers, replace empty reels, maintain organization Replenish and condition shelves: restock items, front and face inventory, and remove box tops Outbound Transfers & Order Fulfillment Accurately pick, pack, and label all transfers going out to other Shepherd branches Manage Direct Sales Order (SO) shipments: contact and follow up with the writer via email on open and pending items Pull will‑call orders and ensure customers are not waiting when they arrive Assist customers at the counter when needed Delivery Operations Make occasional deliveries using Shepherd’s van (non‑CDL; DOT physical certificate required) Represent Shepherd professionally on every delivery — on time, accurate, and courteous Facility & Safety Keep the warehouse organized and clean at all times Follow all safety requirements without exception Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance needs before they become failures What Success Looks Like After 90 days, you and your Manager should both be able to point to these markers: The branch opens at 5:00 a.m. every day without question — no delays, no exceptions Transfers go out clean and manifests close with discrepancies resolved, not deferred POs are received accurately and put away the same day Direct SO follow‑up happens proactively — writers are contacted before they have to ask Cycle count goals are met monthly The wire area is consistently tagged, organized, and current Will‑call customers are not waiting when they arrive Discrepancies are resolved the same day they are found The warehouse is clean and organized every shift, not just on good days The Warehouse Manager trusts the DC warehouse runs correctly when they are not watching Who Thrives Here You own the outcome, not just the task — you do not leave for the day with loose ends unresolved You move with urgency and stay accurate under pressure — the DC pace is real, and you match it You communicate proactively: with writers, with other branches, with your manager — not after problems surface You are organized in a high‑volume environment — wire areas, PO queues, transfer staging do not get away from you You take pride in the space you run — a clean, organized warehouse is a standard, not a nice‑to‑have You want a role where your judgment and reliability directly shape how well the branch serves its customers Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in warehouse operations, receiving, or distribution preferred DOT physical certificate required for delivery duties (or ability to obtain prior to first delivery) Familiarity with warehouse management systems and standard computer tools (email, Excel) Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. regularly and stand for extended periods Valid driver’s license required Ability to successfully complete pre‑employment screening requirements Why Join Shepherd Electric Supply Competitive hourly pay with opportunity for growth Medical, dental, and life insurance Prescription drug coverage Paid vacation and personal time 401(k) with employer match Stable organization with over 130 years of industry leadership A culture where reliability is noticed, ownership is rewarded, and people come first A company scaling into new markets — with real paths to grow with it Work Shift and Hours Monday - Friday, 5:00am - 2:00pm Compensation Details The expected pay rate for this position is starting at $25.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience.
