Field Service Technician III The Field Service Technician specializes in supporting our one‑of‑a‑kind solutions. Remaining flexible and adaptable, the technician provides customers top‑notch support and frequently travels when called upon. The role collaborates with customers, engineers, and senior team members to complete on‑site inspections, maintenance, or repair of critical equipment driving the next phase of professional development. Core responsibilities include the maintenance, repair and/or overhaul of electro‑hydraulic equipment in the Marine industry and shipyard facilities. The technician also estimates large and highly technical quotations, manages engineering issues for all product lines, and provides technical assistance via telephone and on site. Additional Responsibilities Perform on‑site service and warranty functions as requested by the customer and authorized by Jered. Perform failure analysis on warranty and service calls, using engineering personnel (as necessary) to determine the cause of malfunction and/or the validity of a warranty claim, and coordinate with the customer. Conduct tests of electrical and programmable components, assemblies and systems based on criteria established by policies and procedures or written test plans; maintain accurate records of test results. Read and interpret blueprints, specifications and work instructions and convey requirements of the documents to the craftsmen under supervision when required. Provide detailed time, trip, and expense reports in a timely manner as required by Jered procedures. Ensure managers capture all condition reports to include pricing, and job expenses including materials, travel and time keeping. Ensure that all Jered requirements for service and maintenance are complete before leaving the customer’s facility. Advise the customer of any additional items that may require replacement, repair, or special service and provide advice on spare parts procurement. Operate required systems and test equipment in a safe manner, following established safety rules, maintaining a neat and clean work area, following established tool and instrument control procedures, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to the immediate supervisor. Comply with all federal, state and local safety rules and regulations as per Jered procedures and customer requirements. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. 5+ years of experience in a similar fast‑paced environment. Working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and the ability to work to NAVSEA work specification (preferred). Ability to read, interpret, and mark up blueprints and other technical drawings and material. Proficiency with computers and computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel). Ability to obtain and maintain security access to military installations, ships, and commercial shipyards and waterfront controlled industrial areas. Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong troubleshooting abilities; ability to generate condition reports on troubleshooting efforts. Ability to function within the working conditions of a shipyard. Ability to travel on average 50% domestically and internationally and to support evening and weekend hours as needed.
