- Quarterly bonus after six months

- Health insurance

- Paid time off and paid holidays

- Retirement plan

- Company truck, tools and phone for lead positions

- Year-round work with established builders and a clear path to lead plumber and foreman

\nCompany Description

PMC of NC is hiring our first Commercial Plumbing Project Manager. This is a brand-new role with no predecessor, so you'll shape it. You'll lead our superintendents in the field, own the relationship with GC project managers, and run commercial jobs from award through closeout, reporting directly to our VP of Operations.

Our commercial work includes student housing, senior living, restaurants, dental offices, clubhouses, and tenant fit-outs. Plumbing scopes start at $100,000 and we're bidding $1M to $5M packages on $30M to $60M builds. If you've been running commercial jobs at a big firm and want more autonomy, a direct line to leadership, and room to grow, this is your role.

About PMC

Plumbing & Mechanical Corporation of North Carolina is a family-owned plumbing and mechanical contractor in Fuquay-Varina serving the Triangle and RTP. We've averaged 50%+ year-over-year growth since 2019. Our commercial division is growing fast, and we hold ASSE 6010 medical gas installer certification, which puts us in a small group of Triangle contractors set up for healthcare work.

What you'll do

• Run multiple commercial plumbing projects at once, from award through final inspection and closeout
• Lead, develop, and hold superintendents accountable for schedule, quality, and safety
• Be the primary contact for GC project managers. Negotiate scope, prevent scope creep, and resolve conflicts firmly and professionally
• Review plans, specs, and manuals before mobilization. Teach crews and solve problems the drawings didn't anticipate
• Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and job documentation
• Coordinate inspections across Wake, Johnston, Harnett, Durham, Chatham, and surrounding counties
• Enforce safety, quality, and code compliance (NC Plumbing Code; NFPA 99 on medical gas jobs)
• Maintain and grow existing GC and builder relationships so they keep bringing us work
• Partner with the VP of Operations on bids, and grow into estimating as the role expands

What you bring

• 8+ years of commercial plumbing experience (residential-only backgrounds will not qualify)
• 5+ years in a management role above foreman or superintendent level (project manager, division lead, operations manager)
• Confidence reading commercial drawings, specs, and manuals, and teaching crews from them
• Direct experience negotiating scope and change orders with GC project managers
• A track record of taking a project and running it independently, on schedule and on budget
• Strong commercial systems knowledge: DWV, domestic water, gas, grease interceptors, backflow, water heaters, roof drains, commercial fixtures
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Bonus points

• Existing GC and builder relationships in central North Carolina
• Student housing, senior living, or restaurant construction experience
• Estimating background
• Medical gas, pressure systems, or large riser experience (ASSE 6010/6020 a plus)
• NC plumbing contractor license (P-I or P-II), OSHA 30, construction management software

What we offer

• Pay: $110,000 to $10,000 base, plus a 15% to 20% annual incentive tied to job gross profit. Total target $135,000 to $155,000
• Vehicle: Company truck and gas
• Expenses: Reimbursement for builder and GC meetings
• Benefits: Health insurance, paid time off and holidays, retirement plan with company match
• Relocation: Assistance available for the right candidate
• Growth: A new leadership role you get to build, at a company small enough that your decisions matter

This role is based in Fuquay-Varina, NC and covers jobsites across the Triangle. Candidates must live within commuting distance or be ready to relocate.

PMC is an equal opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace.
