Lead Septic Technician — Summit Professional

Camano Island, WA · Full-time · $31–$38/hr depending on proven skill

You've done this work for years. Now we need the person who makes other technicians good at it — while still running jobs yourself.

Here's the job, in plain terms

You stay on the tools. You run your own jobs — inspections, pumping, diagnostics, repairs — and you bring in revenue every week. You also lead the technicians who work beside you.

• You're the call when a tech gets stuck. When a diagnosis doesn't land on a clear cause, our technicians stop and call. Today that call goes to the owner. Your job is to take that call.
• You build technicians. You take a new hire with no septic experience and turn them into a revenue producer, using our written standards, checklists, and sign-offs.
• You sign off the work. You check jobs against the standard and sign off technicians as they prove each skill.
• You have the hard conversations. When a technician misses the standard, you tell them, plainly and kindly, and you write it down.
• You learn installs. You work installs beside the owner and learn to run them.

You lead the technicians. You don't run the office, the schedule, or the whole company. That's not this job.

The homeowner is still the hero

Every homeowner has a problem under their feet they don't understand, and they're stressed about it. You're the guide — calm, clear, with a plan — who makes it right and makes it make sense. Now you also teach every technician you lead to do the same.

Ask a Summit Professional what they do for a living, and they won't say "I pump tanks." They'll say: a house without a working septic system is just a campsite — I'm the person who keeps it a home.

How we work — four things we don't bend on

• We don't sell, we serve — we give people a clear choice. You lay out the options with the plain truth. The customer makes the call. You're at peace whichever way they go.

• We train for your property, not on it. No technician fumbles at a customer's home. As lead, you're the one who makes sure of that.

What you already do

• Pumping and inspections — solo, complete, documented
• Diagnostics — to root cause, not just symptoms: pumps, floats, transducers, headworks, risers, cleanouts. A symptom is not a cause, and you know the difference.
• Repairs — done right the first time, callbacks near zero
• Teaching — you've shown someone else how to do this work, and they got better

We'll ask you to prove it, not tell us about it. You'll work a real day with us before any offer.

The honest part (so you can choose with your eyes open)

It's physical. Outdoors — rain, heat, cold. You'll be held to a standard most companies won't set, and you'll hold others to it too. That means hard conversations, written down, every time. Experience earns you this role — it doesn't exempt you from the Standard.

We're small, and we're building our systems right now. You won't plug into a polished machine; you'll help build it. If you need a finished playbook handed to you on day one, this isn't your mountain yet.

Who a Summit Professional actually is

• You write down what actually happened, even when a vaguer report would be easier.

The honest fine print

Valid driver's license and a record that lets you drive a company service vehicle. Able to do physical, outdoor, hands-on work — lifting, digging, all weather. Follow safety standards every time. Anyone here can stop an unsafe job, no permission needed, ever.
