Night-Time Custodian

Night-Time Custodian East Canton High School, Osnaburg Local School District, East Canton, Ohio. Job Description Remainder of 2025/2026 school year. Continual 2026/2027 school year. Custodian role. Reports to Operations Manager. Job objective: maintain school facilities in optimal condition to support best educational experiences. Responsibilities Coordinate with superintendent and building principals on maintenance and custodial services. Inspect school properties regularly and make recommendations for maintenance, care, cleanliness and upkeep. Oversee the maintenance/custodial program throughout the year. Maintain current inventory of district supplies and equipment used for maintenance work for buildings and grounds. Purchase necessary maintenance/custodial supplies, services, and equipment using approved purchasing procedures. Recommend a systematic long‑range preventative maintenance program and anticipated costs to the Superintendent. Recommend in‑service training for maintenance and custodial staff to the Superintendent. Oversee compliance with occupational health and safety codes and standards. Supervise outside contractors performing work for the district. Coordinate vacation schedules for departmental personnel. Provide verbal input to principals and the Superintendent for evaluation of custodial and maintenance personnel. Perform other duties related to maintenance/custodial services as assigned by the Superintendent. Qualifications High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to order supplies and control inventory. Ability to organize work schedules and direct personnel. Skill in working with a variety of personnel. Working Conditions Duties may require balancing, bending, climbing, crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, working at various heights, and in confined spaces. Duties may require lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies/equipment. Duties may require operating and/or riding in a vehicle. Duties may require traveling to meetings and work assignments. Duties may require working in proximity to moving mechanical parts. Duties may require prolonged use of a computer keyboard and monitor. Duties may require wearing protective clothing and using safety equipment. Duties may require working extended hours. Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines. Potential for exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes. Potential for exposure to airborne particulates, chemical irritants, combustible materials, electrical hazards, equipment vibrations, noises, and odors. Potential for exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and communicable diseases. Potential for interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and/or unruly individuals.
