If so, AMCP may have the perfect opportunity for you. AMCP is looking for a Manager, State & Medicaid Affairs to join our Government Affairs team. This role is ideal for someone who is intellectually curious, highly organized, energized by health policy, and excited to work at the intersection of Medicaid, managed care pharmacy, state legislation, and member advocacy. AMCP's diverse membership of pharmacists, physicians, nurses, biopharmaceutical professionals, and other stakeholders leverage their specialized expertise in clinical evidence and economics to optimize medication benefit design and population health management and help patients access cost-effective and safe medications and other drug therapies. Together, AMCP members help improve the lives of nearly 300 million Americans served by private and public health plans, pharmacy benefit management firms, and emerging care models. About the Role As the Manager, State & Medicaid Affairs, you will help AMCP monitor, analyze, communicate, and advocate on key policy issues impacting managed care pharmacy. You'll keep an eye on state legislative and regulatory activity, help identify trends, support member engagement, and contribute to advocacy efforts that advance AMCP's mission. This is a great role for someone who enjoys digging into policy details, connecting the dots across multiple states, and turning complex information into practical insights for colleagues, members, and stakeholders. You will work closely with the Associate Director, Government Affairs, and other members of the AMCP team on projects related to Medicaid, state affairs, PBM reform, pharmacy payment and professional practice policies, prescription drug coverage and benefit design, biologics and brand medication issues, state boards of pharmacy, and more. What You'll Do Monitor state legislative and regulatory developments and share relevant updates with AMCP staff and members. Maintain AMCP's State PBM Reform Inventory, an annual catalog of state-level laws governing PBM behavior. Use AMCP's legislative tracking platform to monitor and categorize pending state legislation relevant to managed care audiences. Help develop comment letters, issue briefs, social media content, and other communications related to state issues, Medicaid, and the Children's Health Insurance Program. Work with AMCP regional Affiliates to support state-level advocacy efforts, including developing standard operating procedures and advocacy materials. Build and maintain relationships with key pharmacy, health care, patient advocacy, and stakeholder organizations. Participate in AMCP committee meetings, regional Affiliate meetings, coalitions, and internal workgroups. Present on state legislative and regulatory issues at AMCP national meetings and regional Affiliate events to audiences of up to 200+ people. Respond to member questions in relevant policy areas. Prepare background materials and participate in meetings with federal and state legislative and regulatory staff. Support Government Affairs projects, meetings, events, and advocacy initiatives, including AMCP's Legislative Days fly-in. Mentor interns or externs, as needed. Jump in on other projects that support AMCP's mission and Government Affairs priorities. What You Bring A bachelor's degree in public policy, public health, government, or a related field. At least 3 years of professional experience in regulatory, health care policy, government affairs, or related environment; federal health agency preferred. Experience researching, analyzing, writing about, and summarizing federal and/or state legislation or regulations. Interest in Medicaid, state affairs, managed care pharmacy, and the relationship between federal and state regulation. The ability to identify policy trends, especially across multiple states. Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to make complex information clear and accessible. Confidence working with members, volunteers, committees, coalitions, and external stakeholders. Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management skills. Comfort using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and similar workplace tools. The ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines. A collaborative, accountable, respectful, and team-oriented approach to work. Willingness to travel up to 15% and occasionally work evenings or weekends as needed. Experience with grassroots or legislative tracking systems is a plus, as is prior experience with Medicaid, state affairs, health care policy, or a federal health agency.
