Cook Position at George SchoolMeriwether Godsey is looking for a full-time cook responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of daily meals and special events at George School, a boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12 in Newtown, PA.Apply between 9/11/26 and 9/30/26. If hired, you will receive a $250 sign-on bonus after completing 90 days of employment.The cook will:Participate in the preparation, cooking, and portioning of large quantities of meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, cereals, soups, sauces, fruits, bread, desserts, and other food itemsPrepare items in batches as close to serving time as possible to ensure quality and limit over-production using good judgment in timing to ensure service without interruptionFollow recipes and recommend changes in recipes and cooking methods to improve products and ensure the highest quality food preparation and presentationCook, maintain, and store all foods at/to the required temperaturesTake and record temperatures, following all required food handling and sanitation standards to ensure food safetyMaintain accurate records of production amounts, attendance & left-over amounts to assist in efficient forecasting informationAssist with the organization and sanitation of coolers, freezers, and storerooms: all items covered, labeled, and datedAttend production meetings daily, offering input concerning leftover utilization, efficiency, product quality, etc.Perform all duties in accordance with food safety and sanitation best practicesOther duties, as assignedThe cook will need:Must be able to pass an FBI background checkPass a skills assessmentHigh School diploma or equivalentPrior experience as a cook desired; production kitchen or contract dining experience (2-4 prior experience preferred)ServSafe® Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employmentExperience with high-volume food service operations, preferably in school environmentsAbility to measure products and convert units of measureHigh levels of professionalism, strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsFlexibility; ability to switch between locations and job dutiesGrowing knowledge of sustainable practicesCompetitive Pay, Meals, Uniforms, Training, and Mentorship Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, etc.)Meriwether Godsey offers significant opportunities for growth and career advancement.
