Traveling Industrial Electrician

Job Title: Electrician (This is a Traveling Position)

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Electricians to join our construction team. This position involves working on low and medium voltage electrical systems for industrial and data-center construction projects. The role is focused on building and commissioning new electrical infrastructure, not maintaining existing facilities.

$160 a day of per diem pay $30+ (based on experience)

Responsibilities

• Install and terminate new electrical infrastructure, including conduit, cable tray, underground duct bank, cable, wire, and 480 V building and feeder work.
• Follow lockout/tagout and grounding procedures and support the first energization of new 480 V systems.
• Mobilize with project teams to active construction sites and install and commission medium-voltage systems at 12.47 kV, 13.8 kV, and 34.5 kV.
• Install e-house medium-voltage switchgear (MVSG), generator step-up transformers (GSUs), 15 kV and 35 kV cable, and duct bank.
• Support hipot/VLF testing and work adjacent to live campus buses.
• Read construction drawings, one-lines, manuals, and work packages.
• Use electrical test tools (multimeter, megger, ammeter) and construction hand and power tools.

Essential Skills

• State journeyman license.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial or data-center construction, specifically with low voltage inside-wireman work.
• Experience with hands-on 415 V and/or 480 V systems: switchgear, busway, PDU/UPS, MSBs, grounding.
• Experience with medium voltage (MV) construction at 5 kV or above, with documented 15 kV and/or 35 kV terminations.
• Proficiency in NFPA 70E and lockout/tagout procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights and in confined spaces, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and extended shifts during construction and energization.
• Ability and willingness to travel 80% or more on a construction rotation; per diem and/or housing provided while on site.

Work Environment

This is an hourly position with overtime. Expect to travel 80% or more on a rotation, with a per diem provided. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, and you will often be working at heights and in confined spaces.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
