Technology Support Specialist Reports to: Director of Technology Hours: 20–25 hours per week Salary: $21.00–$22.00 per hour Starting Date: Aug 31, 2026 Position Type: Part‑time About the District The Berlin‑Boylston Regional School District includes Tahanto Regional Middle/High School, Berlin Memorial School, and Boylston Elementary School. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Job tasks subject to change through guidance of the Director of Technology. Provides Level 1 Support to end users. Configures, installs, and maintains personal computers, tablets, system software, software applications, printers, scanners, projectors, etc. Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including hardware and software, e‑mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required. Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; staffs a centralized help desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice; implements solutions or notifies level 2 support as required. Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services. Maintains constant communication with the Director of Technology. Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary. Maintains working knowledge of recent and updated technologies through additional training and IT certifications. Possesses the ability to communicate effectively and positively both orally and in writing with teachers, administrators and other staff. Installs computer systems throughout the district as needed. Arranges for and/or performs repair on computer systems as needed. Develops, tests, and deploys new operating system images and software installation packages using imaging software. Oversees computer labs within assigned buildings. Trains teachers on the technical and procedural use of their computer systems and software. Provides primary tech support for all principals, directors, and staff within assigned buildings. Direct responsibility for implementing and managing new client/server applications. Provides backup support for other computer Systems Specialists. Assists the Technology Coordinator in planning new technology purchases. Contributes to the Technology Department’s procedural documentation library and inventory database. Maintains appropriate records, databases, passwords, configurations, and vendor contacts as needed to perform the above listed tasks. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods, climb stairs/ladders, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run; able to provide own transportation between buildings as needed.
