Early Childhood Teacher

Terms of employment: 10 month employee - temporary if hired after contractual start date for teachers

Reports to: Building Principal

Salary: Current teacher salary schedule

Minimum qualifications: Current or eligible to hold Delaware certification as an Early Childhood special education teacher

Experience with students who have moderate to severe disabilities

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Teach students with disabilities
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual need, interests and abilities of the students
• Prepares for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary
• Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialist as required
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
