In return for their term of service, members receive a living allowance and may earn an education award upon completion. As a VISTA Volunteer, you’ll take on meaningful, hands-on work that drives long-term change in areas like education, public health, climate resilience, and access to essential services. From grant writing and research to fundraising and community volunteer engagement, you’ll build real-world experience while developing leadership skills that set you apart.Position OverviewIYT's most valuable content is evergreen — member and alumni profiles, thought leadership, and regional feature stories that keep drawing in new audiences and re-engaging supporters long after publication. Today that content is produced unevenly across regions, and social media publishing is often the first thing to lapse when the small communications team gets pulled into other priorities. This VISTA member will help build a lasting content production process and a documented social media workflow that regional staff and the communications team can sustain on their own.Title: IYT Regional Correspondent & Social Media Producer VISTAProgram Start/End Date: January 11, 2027 through January 2028Work Schedule: Full TimeReports to:BenefitsAs an AmeriCorps VISTA member, you'll receive a living allowance to cover basic expenses during your term of service, along with health coverage, and — upon successful completion of your 12-month term — the choice between a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or a cash stipend. Additional support may include relocation assistance, childcare assistance for eligible members, student loan forbearance, and non-competitive eligibility for federal jobs for up to one year after service. Members also gain access to AmeriCorps VISTA's national training network and professional development resources, along with direct mentorship from IYT leadership throughout the term.Living Stipend Amounts$957.46 (Pre-tax) Bi-weekly stipend for 40 hours per weekStipend and education award amounts are estimates (before taxes)Responsibilities:Over the service term, the member will:Audit current content workflows and existing website/social content to identify gaps and inefficienciesDesign a standardized evergreen content model with region-tagging taxonomy and approval protocolsConduct field research across IYT regions to gather source material for contentCreate and maintain a reusable, region-tagged library of evergreen content (profiles, features, thought leadership pieces)Design a system for converting evergreen content into social media posts, including a Canva template libraryEstablish community engagement guidelines for social media response and growthLaunch and evaluate a pilot social media campaign, turning results into a repeatable playbookDocument all systems into a comprehensive playbook and train Marketing & Communications staff to run it independentlyBuild a 12-month content and social media calendar for the departmentTransfer all tools, libraries, and training materials to the Director of Communications & External Affairs at term's end.QualificationsRequired:Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detailComfort working independently and structuring ambiguous projects into defined stepsClear written communication, particularly translating complex processes into plain languageProficiency with cloud-based collaboration toolsMust be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or legal permanent residentMust be 18 years or older (no upper age limit)Commitment to the mission of Improve Your Tomorrow.Schedule Requirements:Full-time AmeriCorps service term, school year calendar; Monday–Friday; 40 hours a week, some weekends, on-site presence per service term scheduleNote: This is not an hourly job, but a full-year service commitment.Equipment usedThe position will require the use of computers, phones, office supplies, and educational materials.
