In Abbott's Heart Failure (HF) business, we're developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. The Senior Electrical engineer will be primarily working on the CardioMEMS HF system, which remotely monitors changes in pulmanry artery (PA) pressure, an early indicator of the onset of worsening heart failure, to aid physicians in preventing worsening heart failure, lower heart failure mortality rates, and improve quality of life for our heart failure patients. The role is within the R&D organization charged with developing and releasing the next generations of CardioMEMS components while also supporting the current generation of products.What You'll Work OnContribute to a team committed to delivering the next generation of CardioMEMS products to help our patients (and their clinicians) manage their heart failureConduct bench and preclinical studies supporting product development teams for concept feasibility and formal regulatory submissionContribute to the continuous improvement of CardioMEMS electronic designsDraft test protocols and reportsIndependently plan, coordinate, and execute activity in support of project goalsSupport design reviewsSupport development of risk management documentationGain an understanding of the quality and regulatory requirements of Abbott, FDA and ISO regulationsComply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendorsPerform other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assignedRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering, or similar5+ years' experience designing, testing, manufacturing or other engineering supportExperience owning and driving deliverables within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environmentStrong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization. Distlling complex topics into easily digestible content headlining key pointsDemonstrated initiative in going beyond assigned tasks on own agencyHistory of applying critical thinking to address design challengesProficient in collaborating with project stakeholders (client and internal), end-users, business partners, and technical team membersStrong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detailAbility to plan, execute, analyze, and document individual scientific studiesAbility to collect, organize, and analyze data using statistical methodsDemonstrated history of two or more of the following: Releasing to production an electro-mechanical design with design-responsibility of the MCAD, Design of radio frequency antenna elements (modelling and characterization of antennas – preferably low frequency), Use of automation for characterization and/or data analysis to spead design cycles, The translation of electrical requirements into circuit designs and specificationsPreferred Qualifications:Medical device experienceExperience working with an electronic document control system (Windchill, etc.)Experience working with cross-functional teams in a geographically diverse, matrixed organizationThe base pay for this position is $90,000.00 – $180,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
