JOB SUMMARY

Join our team as an Electrician specializing in marine electrical systems, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the electrical integrity of our vessels. You will be responsible for installing, repairing, and connecting various electrical equipment onboard, while also engaging in tasks related to cable and conduit management. Your work will help maintain the high standards of our fleet.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Minimum of two years marine electrical experience or four years electrical experience. Must pass the NASSCO assessment or be enrolled in a training program. Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical practices within shipbuilding. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and computer printouts. Willingness to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on any shift as required. Must have good communication skills and the ability to comprehend safety instructions effectively.

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

Prepare work areas, drill holes, and grind metal surfaces. Install welds and connect various types of equipment. Layout, pull, repair, and install cable and conduit systems. Conduct testing of electrical equipment for functionality. Read and interpret blueprints and Navy standards manuals. Perform general cleaning and removal of scrap materials. Execute any additional tasks as assigned relevant to the trade.

MATERIALS, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDS

Electrical tools (e.g., hammers, drills, grinders, welding equipment). Cable cutters, screwdrivers, electrical test equipment, and protective gear. Blueprints and Navy standards manual. Cleaning equipment for maintaining hygiene in work areas.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL INVOLVEMENT

This role involves frequent lifting, carrying, and pulling of cables and equipment. You will need to stand, balance, walk, climb, and work in various positions, including confined spaces and elevated settings. A keen ability to hear warning signals and read safety instructions is essential in maintaining a safe working environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Be prepared to work in environments with potential exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, and varying climate conditions. You may encounter high noise levels and moving machinery in the shipyard and on board vessels.

$34.43 - $37.78 This salary range reflects the skills, experience, and training necessary for this position.
