Sustaining Engineer
Our client, a leading innovator in autonomous mobility solutions, is seeking a dedicated Sustaining Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Sustaining Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting the Fleet Reliability and Maintenance teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a proactive mindset, which will align successfully within the organization.
Location: Foster City, CA
Pay Range: $80-$83/hour + Benefits
Support the Level 3 test fleet by diagnosing and resolving vehicle and hardware issues across OEM systems and integrated autonomous vehicle hardware.
Lead end-to-end troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and develop solutions to improve fleet reliability and availability.
Implement design updates and improvements to enhance durability, serviceability, and fleet performance.
Manage engineering change requests, validate solutions through testing, and oversee fleet trials to ensure long-term effectiveness.
Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, and service teams to deliver durable, manufacturable, and scalable solutions aligned with design standards.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in electrical and mechanical systems engineering within product development, manufacturing, or sustaining environments.
Proven ability to improve subsystem reliability using root cause analysis, DFMEA, and validation testing.
Hands-on experience with tools such as Python, SQL, Vector CANalyzer, or Databricks for fleet data analysis and troubleshooting.
Strong communication skills, proficiency with 3D CAD tools like CATIA, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
