Billing Specialist

Billing Specialist Position Summary: Responsible for billing, credentialing, claim submissions, payment posting, revenue cycle management, and compliance across all AppWell clinic facilities. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school, and a minimum of two years of related office experience with billing and credentialing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Diplomas or degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. Licenses/Certification Required Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from AHIMA or CH-CBS. Combination of certification and experience will be considered. Essential Job Functions Execute all billing and credentialing for all AppWell clinic facilities. Prepare, review, and transmit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement. Post all payments received via mail, ACHs, and virtual payments; front desk staff handle in-person payments. Monitor claim status, follow up on unpaid claims, and appeal denied claims. Calculate patient responsibility, send statements, and handle billing inquiries. Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality and comply with payer requirements. Provide front desk backup support to the LLHS Clinic Front Desk as needed. Train student interns, graduate assistants, and student employees; serve as a mentor. Execute insurance provider enrollment and credentialing processes. Maintain CAQH provider profiles. Ensure proper use and assignment of billing codes. Stay updated on billing codes and procedures. Balance end of day according to clinic policies and track payments from all sources (Touchnet, Clover, Zelis, Availity, WayStar, etc.). Obtain prior authorizations as needed for allied health provider services. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems. Technical proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and medical billing software. Attention to detail and ability to spot inaccuracies in medical records. Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with providers and patients. Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Work Schedule/Hours Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑5:00 pm. Full‑time, 40 hours per week, 11 months per year. Compensation Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity, and market considerations. Hiring range: $30.67+ per hour. #J-18808-Ljbffr
