Job Opportunity BHSI has an exciting opportunity for a Complex Claims Professional in our New York City, Atlanta, or Chicago offices. The Complex Claims Director will independently handle a diverse pending of high-severity claims underwritten out of the Financial Institutions and Commercial (i.e., Public Company) teams, focusing mainly on Financial Institutions, Errors & Omissions, Directors & Officers, and Fiduciary. This role will have a high level of interaction with internal customers (senior management, underwriters, and actuaries) as well as external customers (brokers, insureds, and defense counsel). Duties & Responsibilities Independently evaluate information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company. While the majority of files handled in this role would be excess, the successful candidate may be considered for high-visibility primary claim opportunities in the future based on business needs, performance and demonstrated capabilities. Attend mediations of complex claims on behalf of the company and effectively negotiate settlements. Provide outstanding customer service to, and seamlessly work with, the insured, broker, and underwriters in the handling and adjudication of claims. Analyze and draft coverage letters as appropriate and communicate coverage positions effectively both verbally and in writing. Draft reports, set reserves within the authority, or make claim recommendations concerning reserve changes. Travel to conferences, mediations, and client meetings as necessary. Qualifications, Skills And Experience JD strongly preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Typically 3-8+ years of relevant claims or legal experience. Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills. Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative team environment. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
