General Manager

Summary:

We are representing a reputable mechanical / fire protection contractor seeking an experienced General Manager to lead their residential and multifamily division. This role requires strong trade knowledge in fire protection systems and hands-on leadership across all phases of operations-including estimating, bidding, design, installation, materials, and field coordination. The ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-driven leader with a background in construction management and deep understanding of wet sprinkler installation, testing, and fire protection operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the full operational cycle of the division, including estimating, design, procurement, installation, and field execution
Lead sales and production meetings, set performance goals, and align team operations with company objectives
Manage division budgets, staffing, and forecasting while maintaining profitability and efficiency
Develop and maintain strong relationships with builders, vendors, and clients to support ongoing and future projects
Mentor and motivate team members to ensure high performance and accountability
Collaborate with senior leadership on business strategy, growth initiatives, and division expansion
Monitor field operations to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
Represent the division in executive, client, and industry meetings
Drive continuous improvement across estimating accuracy, field productivity, and client satisfaction

Qualifications:

Minimum 8+ years of experience in fire protection, mechanical, or related construction field
Proven leadership experience managing a division, large department, or operations team
Strong understanding of fire protection systems, wet sprinkler installation, testing, and inspection processes
Experience in project management, estimating, and construction scheduling
Solid relationships within the residential and multifamily builder market preferred
Computer proficient; familiarity with Viewpoint or similar software a plus
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment with no hybrid or remote work
