Direct Support Professional - Marshfield PRN

Position Overview Positions starting at $21.00 per hour. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, guiding them to achieve maximum independence within their communities. The DSP mentors, coaches, and assists clients with daily living skills and community participation. Responsibilities Educate clients on skills such as personal hygiene, cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, and other activities of daily living. Explore community businesses and social activities with clients while supporting their employment, household, and personal goals. Collaborate with the team to plan and advocate for clients’ needs. Provide support for daily living activities, including dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and medication administration. Administer oral, rectal, vaginal, topical medications, and insulin injections after required certification. Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration, and apply simple dressings as needed. Assist in maintaining an inventory of supplies and ordering necessary items for clients. Document observations, progress, and changes in clients’ physical, emotional, and behavioral status. Assist in the orientation and training of new employees. Encourage the development of a safe environment, including emergency planning and securing emergency services. Support clients in becoming active participants in community activities, vocational, domestic, and leisure pursuits. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good judgement and discretion. Ability to work varied and flexible hours, accept and adapt to changes in assignments, methods, and policies. Adequate respect for and advocacy of persons with disabilities. Knowledge of crisis intervention and behavior support techniques. Capability to teach basic skills and model adaptive behaviors at home and in the community. Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and agreeable environment for those served. Accurate recording of observations and progress. Effective communication in both oral and written forms. Strength to stand, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs, and pull or push items. Completion of CPR, First Aid, and Behavior Intervention training. Strong record of punctuality and attendance. Licensed and insured driver; ability to obtain a class E driver’s license if required. Minimum Experience and Training Qualifications Minimum of 18 years of age. Diploma from an accredited high school or equivalent. Completed a CPR and First Aid course. Completed a 16‑hour Medication Administration course. Completed a 10‑hour MANDT System Workshop. Completed an OSHA Health and Safety regulations course. Completed an Abuse & Neglect course. Completed an Electronic Documentation course. Other trainings per department or location may be required, refer to policy 8.106 for specific requirements. Typical shifts are 8 hours on either day, evening, or overnight, with primary openings for evenings and weekends. Potential for annual wage increases.
