SVB Wood Floors is hiring full-time Hardwood Flooring Installers & Sand/Finish Technicians to join our team.

We are a family-owned Kansas City hardwood flooring company that has built its reputation on quality craftsmanship, professionalism, and exceptional results. We specialize in hardwood installation, sanding, refinishing, repair, and restoration for residential and commercial projects.

At SVB, flooring is a skilled trade and craftsmanship matters. Our installers and finish technicians are part of our in-house team, not subcontracted crews, and we invest in professional equipment, training, and continued education to help our team develop their skills and careers.

What You'll Do

• Hardwood Installation: Measure, cut, and install solid and engineered hardwood flooring using appropriate nail-down, staple-down, and glue-down methods.
• Sand & Refinish: Operate professional belt/drum sanders, edgers, planetary sanders, buffers, and dust-containment equipment to produce smooth, consistent results.
• Staining & Finishing: Prepare floors and professionally apply stains, sealers, water-based and oil-based finishes, and other flooring finish systems.
• Floor Preparation: Evaluate job sites, inspect subfloors, perform moisture testing, check flatness and complete necessary preparation or minor subfloor repairs.
• Repairs & Detail Work: Complete board replacements, flooring repairs, hand scraping, edging, corners, stairs, and other detailed finish work.
• Job-Site Quality: Maintain clean, organized and professional job sites while protecting customers' homes and property.
• Equipment & Safety: Properly maintain company-provided tools, sanding equipment, dust-containment systems, and vehicles while following appropriate safety procedures.
• Customer Service: Communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, designers, and other members of the SVB team.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for dependable people who take pride in their work and want to build or continue a career in the hardwood flooring trade.

Previous professional hardwood flooring experience is preferred, particularly experience in hardwood installation and/or sanding and refinishing . However, experience level will be considered when determining position and compensation.

Qualified experienced candidates should have knowledge in areas such as:

• Professional hardwood installation techniques
• Operation of belt/drum sanders, edgers and flooring buffers
• Proper sanding sequences and techniques
• Wood species and acclimation
• Moisture testing and subfloor preparation
• Staining and finish application
• Water-based and oil-based finish systems
• Preventing sanding marks, swirl marks, lap lines and other finish imperfections

Candidates should also:

• Be dependable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Have strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
• Maintain a professional demeanor while working in customers' homes
• Be willing to learn and continue developing their skills
• Be physically capable of performing flooring work, including lifting heavy equipment/materials and working on knees for extended periods
• Have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Training & Professional Development

SVB Wood Floors follows National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) guidelines and believes strongly in continued education. Team members may periodically have opportunities to participate in professional training and certification programs through the NWFA, Bona, and other industry partners .

NWFA certifications or previous professional flooring training are a major plus, but we also value skilled tradespeople who are interested in continuing their education.

Schedule & Pay

• Full-time position
• Monday–Friday
• Workday begins at 7:00 AM
• The workday ends when the scheduled job or work for the day is complete; end times may vary depending on the project
• Some overtime may be required depending on project schedules
• Paid weekly
• Pay period runs Wednesday through Tuesday
• Paychecks are issued the following Friday
