The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) and the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) invite applications for a faculty position as a Senior Scientific Director in the CIBMTR and the Principal Investigator (PI) role in the Stem Cell Therapeutic Outcome Database (SCTOD) contract with HRSA. Candidates eligible to be appointed to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor will be considered.

The successful candidate will be expected to devote a minimum of 60-70% of his or her effort to CIBMTR (a percentage of which will be dedicated to the SCTOD role) and may have effort devoted to clinical service in the division of Hematology/Oncology in the adult transplantation and cell therapy unit. In this strategic leadership position, the successful candidate will be fulfilling leadership and PI responsibilities of the SCTOD contract, leading all aspects of this critical CIBMTR function. They will develop a deep understanding of CIBMTR data across the full data pipeline and be involved in innovation and enhancement of data, systems and infrastructure. They will work closely with internal leaders and functional teams; and will develop and strengthen the collaborative relationships with network treatment centers and international partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate as the lead on the SCTOD contract with HRSA, participating alongside others in the team in all aspects of successfully completing all contract deliverables, including, but not limited to:

• Provide scientific leadership to Data Operations staff to ensure and promote data quality, accuracy and appropriateness of data collected to meet the purposes of the SCTOD, and more broadly CIBMTR's mission
• Collaborate with statistical and data operations teams to understand, enhance and perform the annual Center Specific Analysis (CSA) and understand all functions supporting this
• Develop a full understanding of data security, and other contract obligations associated with the SCTOD contract
• Work closely with the HRSA Project Officer and other team members as well as leads of other awards under the CW Bill Young program
• Work closely with MCW, and other appropriate legal and contracting partners to negotiate and fulfill the SCTOD requirements
• Collaborate with treatment center directors to ensure US network engagement in, contribution to and innovation around the CSA.
• Participate in the strategic mission of data innovation, covering all aspects of the data lifecycle, to enhance the impact and effectiveness of the CIBMTR registry in achieving its mission, broadly supporting the quality and security of CIBMTR data
• Lead partnerships with US treatment centers to maximize the strengths of registry data collection and use, while reducing burden
• Represent CIBMTR to international registries, influencing the development of globally harmonized clinical definitions, standardized data collection, promoting benchmarking and collaborative research
• Collaborate with clinical informatics, disease-specific directors, and CIBMTR leadership to achieve CIBMTR mission
• Contribute to CIBMTR and MCW's strategic goals, funding growth, high impact publications and development of strategic partnerships

Clinical Role

The successful candidate may also have a clinical role in the Division of Hematology and Oncology in our internationally recognized cellular therapy clinical program. The clinical responsibilities may include inpatient care for patients undergoing advanced cellular therapies and/or a limited outpatient clinic with a focus on allogeneic transplant MCW's cellular therapy program serves most of the state of Wisconsin as well as northern Illinois and parts of Michigan. We perform roughly 400 cellular therapy procedures yearly, including autologous and allogeneic transplant, chimeric-antigen T-cell receptor therapy and novel cellular protocols, including cutting edge and first-in-human clinical trials. The physician will be part of a multidisciplinary team and critically involved in the day-to-day management of complex patients. The team includes skilled advanced practice providers, transplant coordinators, nursing staff, pharmacists, and other specialists.

The Division of Hematology and Oncology is a core center member of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN), a lead academic center for the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) and an active member of ECOG-ACRIN.

Position Requirements:

• Board certified/board eligible in hematology and/or oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine
• Ability to obtain an unrestricted Wisconsin medical license
• Prior experience and training in HCT
• Successful candidates will have a strong portfolio of research productivity as evidenced by success a national reputation and high impact publications.
• Experience working with the CIBMTR and formal training in research methodology is preferred but not required.
• Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to patient care, clinical excellence and academic collaboration and a strong interest in teaching and clinical research.

CIBMTR collaborates with the global scientific community to advance HCT and cellular therapy research worldwide to increase survival and enrich quality of life for patients. CIBMTR facilitates critical observational and interventional research through scientific and statistical expertise, a large network of transplant centers, a unique and extensive clinical outcomes database and a large repository of donor and recipient biospecimens. Its longitudinal database currently has information for more than 700,000 patients and receives data for an additional 20-25,000 new patients annually. Currently greater than 80 projects are ongoing in collaboration with more than 40 industry teams. Services provided include scientific expertise, data management and statistical support aligned with use of its real-world data registry supporting impactful industry sponsored projects, including the post-approval safety studies (PASS) for CAR-T, gene therapy and other novel interventions.
