Responsibilities Effectively facilitates and conducts team meetings for annual reviews, initial / re-evaluations, and other special education related meetings Oversees and assist in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities Participates in pre-referral and screening processes Participates in educational support teams (SST, PBIS Team, ect. Depending on the level) as required Coordinates Special Education services among teachers and service-providers Communicates appropriately with building principals to troubleshoot scheduling/servicing of students receiving Special Education Maintains responsibility for adhering to timelines of evaluation reports and review forms and works closely with staff and parents to communicate such Assures the completion of progress and IEP’s and reviews teacher / provider input for accuracy and appropriateness Facilitates collaboration among regular education teachers and special educators and paraprofessionals Works closely with Director of Students Services and building administrators to address critical student/family/school issues Assists in MCAS administration relative to accommodations of students with IEPs, as well as those participating in an alternative assessment Attends out-of-district team meetings when necessary and/or determined by the Director of Student Services Maintains working knowledge of Special Education laws and regulations Assists in the monitoring and compliance of state and federal regulations and participates in DESE monitoring reviews as assigned Provides, and/or participates in, professional development activities as deemed necessary and appropriate Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior at all times and follows the policies and procedures as outlined by the School Committee and district administration Maintains documentation in compliance with local, state and federal regulations Maintains open lines of communication with the building administration, guidance, counselors, teachers and parents regarding special education and student support services and issues Plans, organizes and coordinates programs Establishes and maintains positive working relationships Applies principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of problems Utilizes collaborative leadership style Manages multiple task Performs other duties as assigned Appropriate DESE licensure required Bachelor's Degree Required Master's Degree Preferred Pay scale is based on degree and years of experience.
