We are currently looking for an Outside Sales Representative to develop and manage business throughout the Appleton, Wisconsin area. This position will work with customers across multiple segments of the paint and coatings industry, with an emphasis on architectural coatings, wood coatings, and industrial coatings.

The ideal candidate will have previous paint or coatings industry experience, strong technical curiosity, and the ability to build trusted relationships with contractors, manufacturers, property professionals, and other commercial customers.

This position offers a guaranteed first-year salary of $75,000$100,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and grow sales throughout the assigned Appleton-area territory.
• Build business across the architectural, wood, and industrial coatings markets.
• Identify prospective customers through cold calling, referrals, networking, jobsite visits, industry events, online research, and other lead-generation activities.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
• Learn each customer's operations, applications, challenges, and goals to recommend appropriate products and coating solutions.
• Demonstrate professional selling skills related to planning, prospecting, probing, presenting, addressing objections, and closing.
• Travel throughout the assigned territory to meet with current and prospective customers.
• Conduct product demonstrations and clearly communicate product features, benefits, applications, and proper usage.
• Prepare quotes, communicate pricing and credit terms, and coordinate customer orders.
• Build strong relationships with JC Licht store teams and provide ongoing sales support throughout the assigned territory.
• Collaborate with store teams, operations, vendors, and technical representatives to deliver excellent customer service and resolve customer needs.
• Coordinate and facilitate product training for customers and JC Licht employees as needed.
• Investigate and resolve customer questions, service concerns, and product-related issues.
• Maintain accurate records of leads, customer interactions, opportunities, and account activity in the company CRM.
• Monitor market activity and identify opportunities for continued growth.
• Attend trade shows, vendor events, customer events, and other industry functions.
• Represent JC Licht with a professional, knowledgeable, and positive attitude.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience or meaningful exposure within the paint or coatings industry is required.
• Knowledge of architectural, wood, and/or industrial coatings is strongly preferred.
• Outside sales, territory management, business development, or account management experience is preferred.
• Ability to understand customer applications and recommend appropriate coating systems and solutions.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and capable of producing results with minimal day-to-day direction.
• Ability to develop new business while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships.
• Ability to quickly learn new products, applications, and technical concepts.
• Ability to teach customers about products, preparation, application, and proper usage.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with store teams, operational partners, vendors, and customers.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office, CRM software, and order-processing systems.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to meet company insurability requirements.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds when handling samples, products, or demonstration materials.
