RN Med Surg Night Facility: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Lakeway, TX Department: Our nurses are trained for our post op and stroke patients, many have stroke and spine education and certifications as well as orthopedic education Status: Full Time, 36 hrs. per week Shift: Night Shift, (7pm-7am- self-scheduling with rotating weekends) 15 Beds Patient Ratio: 5:1 We work with surgeons and create positive relationships to support those with spine injuries and back pain. We also work closely with therapy for patient mobility and ensure our patients are up and moving post op This is our specialty unit and a special group of patients we get to make relationships with for a better future. If you want to go into orthopedics, PT/OT this is your unit! This unit is fast paced, lots of patient turn over and staff need to be ready for lots of discharges and admissions daily. Growth and Learning Opportunities: Staff have become certified in neurology, complete education in spine care and EMU Educational classes (RQI, IV class, CLABSI, CHARGE NURSE to name a few), accommodate school schedules, have skills fair, continuing education We are a certified STEMI and STROKE facility. It is fast-paced and being proactive is the best way to complete your tasks. We are a team as well as a family, we recognize those going for a certification or working on completing school or getting married/having a baby and anything in-between. Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. What You'll Do You, as an RN, will conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes. Building relationships, managing discomfort, staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families. Creating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues. You will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly. Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. You'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth.
