Surgical TechnicianPrimary Responsibilities Include:Assists in surgery as a scrub assistant and operates surgical equipmentDetermines appropriate equipment and supplies needed in surgery according to nursing protocolPrepares, maintains, cleans and checks equipment for proper and safe functioning prior to useAssists in transporting, positioning, prepping and draping patients for surgeryCleans, sorts and sterilizes instruments and prepares instrument packsEducation/Training/Experience:Completion of a surgical technician program with eligibility to sit for board certification examMust have board certification within nine (9) months of hireCurrent BLSTwo (2) years surgical technician experience in an acute care or surgery center environmentExperience in multiple specialties including orthopedics, gyn, general surgery, plastics and gi labAbility to exercise professional judgment in performing day-to-day activities, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and proceduresExcellent verbal and written communication skills
