Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. Open cavity surgery experience needed 12 hour/week, Night shift

Responsibilities

Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory. Assists in decontamination, preparation and sterilization of instruments in sterile processing. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists nurse with patient care.

Additional Job Information

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision with a positive disposition. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: One (1) year of experience required. Other Information: Certified Surgical Technologist certification (CST or TS-C) is preferred.
