Learn more about this agency Duties Help Serve as the Point-of-Contact for the closed-circuit television platform for DLA Installation Management at Susquehanna, PA. Responsible for licensing, software, clients, network video recorders, switches, network cabling/conduit, power and cameras. Design, repair, install and maintain an intrusion detection, electronic card access and biometric identification systems. Assist the Contracting Officer with development of maintenance and sustainment support contracts. Program electronic security front-end. Participate in the planning, designing and, construction phases of installation construction and modification projects. Position may serve as a COR with proper delegated authority following policy I/A/W FAR, DFARS and DLAD. Qualifications To qualify for an Electronics Technician , your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-11 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or, private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications and, any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Integrate a wide range of state-of-the-art electronic security system platforms and components. Analyze the practical applications of security systems and methodologies. Develop and design protective systems and their controls. Perform complex calculations and manipulations of test data to improve performance of varied security systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: The work requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching, crawling and similar activities. This physical exertion is performed when inspecting office buildings or industrial facilities. Performance of work may take place in attics, crawlspaces, walls, ceilings, and other limited access spaces, in rough terrain or in construction sites when planning and monitoring the installation of security systems as part of original construction. The work may regularly involve lifting and carrying of light to moderately heavy objects of 50 pounds or less when delivering or installing security devices. The work may require some common characteristics and abilities of physical agility and dexterity to work in confined spaces and to move or lift moderately heavy objects. Work Environment: Work is performed in ever changing office, outdoor and industrial work environments in order to keep the security system operational. Regular and recurring moderate exposure to risks associated with rain, hot/cold weather, fumes, odors, dust, noise, cuts, bruises, electrical hazards and burns. Work requires routine use of ladders and lift equipment (as high as 25 feet) to troubleshoot, repair or install electronic security system components. Utilizes personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety harness, hearing protection, eye and face protection and gloves. Employee will operate hand tools, be able to solder, complete electrical work, install conduit and network cable. Required to obtain a hot work permit when conducting work that produces sparks/flames. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
