Registered Nurse - Oncology / Step Down Unit

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Job Description

The medical oncology unit will consist of patients with a cancer diagnosis, medical step-down patients, and general medical overflow. This position requires a basic knowledge of pathophysiology of cancer and the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients on this unit.

Responsibilities

• Regularly assesses patient needs and provides skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician's authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice.
• Provides direct patient care, including nursing assessment, medication administration, treatments, call lights, assisting with transfers, and responding to alarms.
• Evaluates effectiveness of treatment plans and patients' conditions, making suggestions and participating in updating/revising treatment plans in collaboration with team members.
• Processes physician/provider orders and performs ordered care accurately and in a timely manner.
• Follows up regarding medication changes and order clarifications.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of Med Surg Experience - Required
• Oncology Experience - Required
• Comfortable taking Step Down Patients - Required
• Prior Travel Work History - Highly Preferred
• Epic EMR Experience - Highly Preferred
• Active Michigan RN License - Required
• Active American Heart Association BLS - Required
• Active American Heart Association ACLS - Required
