About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Float Pool Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: - All travelers must take and pass a cardiac rhythm exam. - Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips. Description: The unit consists of multiple medical-surgical and telemetry beds. The most frequently floated units include 6N and 7N, among others. Patient-nurse ratios typically range from 1:5-6 for most shifts. Occasionally, ratios may reach 1:7 based on patient acuity. Common diagnoses include CHF, cardiac catheterization, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, and COPD. Traveling nurses will not be required to titrate drips. A charge nurse is present on each unit, with night charge nurses taking patient assignments. CNA support is available on all units. Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP, managed separately by respiratory staff. Telemetry monitors are Phillips brand, and nurses must be able to interpret telemetry strips. Scheduling consists of 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. Weekend shifts are assigned on an every-other-weekend basis. Travel nurses are included in the holiday rotation with permanent staff. All staff will report for unit assignment at the beginning of their shifts. Travelers will float to various units, but will primarily care for basic telemetry patients. Uniform scrub colors for nursing staff are royal blue. All travelers will receive 1-2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor.
