Building Supervisor Membership

Location: YMCA of the Suncoast, John Geigle Branch – Building Supervisor/Membership Rate of Pay: $15.00/hr – $15.60/hr. Opportunity to increase to $15.65/hr upon completion of required training. Shift: Nights and Weekends Job Summary The YMCA of the Suncoast is seeking a meticulous Member Service Representative to elevate our customer service. The role involves delivering exceptional service to members, guests, and program participants, greeting all who enter the Y, responding to general questions, facilitating membership changes or transactions, and contributing to membership sales through tours, program and event promotion, and ongoing member engagement. Key Responsibilities Within 60 days of hire, complete all requirements of the Member Specialist I Position, demonstrating readiness for promotion. Build and maintain relationships with members and potential members. Create a warm, welcoming environment throughout the facility. Educate members and prospects about YMCA services and connect them to relevant programs. Assist at the welcome desk and perform membership receipting into Active. Enter financial and payment information into Active and create Photo ID cards. Conduct facility tours, assess member needs, and perform necessary follow‑up. Handle reservations for wellness center orientations and all program registrations via Active. Manage all phone inquiries regarding membership and program information. File and maintain necessary paperwork and performs clerical duties. Participate in Member Appreciation and Retention activities. Assist with annual membership data audit. Report suspicious activity or potential abuse, uphold code of conduct, and maintain a clean, organized environment. Report to the Building Supervisor or Membership Director as needed for safety, security, or incident response. Education, Training and Experience Minimum age 17 years. High school graduate or equivalent required. College degree preferentially in Marketing or Communications. Minimum one year customer service experience. Knowledge of YMCA’s operations is a plus. Upon hire, complete Intro to Y's Cause & Culture, Y's Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You: Service with CARE trainings. Within 60 days, meet Member Specialist I requirements: Foundations of Listen First, Get SMART, Three Keys to Successful Family Engagement, Living our Cause for Frontline Leaders, Cause Driven Tour Workshop with Post Workshop Evaluation, and Active.net Skills Assessment. CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred. Special Skills or Equipment Required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Personal computer and data entry proficiency. Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude. Physical and Mental Requirements May need to lift and carry up to 30 lbs (boxes of supplies). Required to stand or sit for extended periods while working at phone, computer, and other equipment. Must follow detailed instructions and maintain professionalism with members and colleagues. Must possess auditory, visual, and verbal abilities for effective communication.
