Title: Medical Lab Tech

Location: West Bend, Wisconsin

Contract: 13 weeks

Schedule: 3rd shift 7/70 schedule. 7 10-hour days in a row followed by 7 days off

Requirements: 2 years of Medical Lab Tech experience

-MLT or MLS Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is required within 1 year of hire. 
-ASCP certification or equivalent is required within 6 months of hire.

Job Title: Medical Lab Tech

Job Summary:
Performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Responsible for quality control, instrument maintenance, and specimen procurement and processing. Performs blood collection duties in a timely manner to ensure availability of test results, as needed. Keeps abreast of changes and updates to technical procedures. Consistently follows established protocols for interpreting and verifying test results. Recognizes abnormal or inconsistent results and investigates appropriately and timely. Notifies leadership of potential problems immediately to avoid compromising patient care. Consistently completes work assignments in a timely manner by prioritizing and multitasking as appropriate. Adjusts to fluctuating workloads, positively cooperating in situations where additional work is required. Maintains workstations in a clean and organized manner. Completes special projects as assigned, utilizing LIS, EMR, and other tools and resources as appropriate. Actively participates in student and new employee training, covering training materials thoroughly and providing information regarding the principles and theories of the technical procedures.

Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, including an internship at an affiliated laboratory from an accredited institution is required within 2 months of hire.
- Combined military experience and training that aligns with CLIA and CAP requirements.
- MLT or MLS Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is required within 1 year of hire.
- ASCP certification or equivalent is required within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of clinical laboratory experience.
