Position Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary point of contact for patients and is responsible for performing high-quality blood collections and specimen processing. This role requires excellent patient communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate venipuncture, capillary, pediatric, and geriatric collections.
- Collect, label, process, and prepare clinical and forensic specimens according to established procedures.
- Verify patient demographics and identification before and after collection.
- Obtain patient signatures and ensure specimens are correctly labeled in the patient's presence.
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Provide a professional, safe, and welcoming patient experience.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
- Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Travel between patient service centers and physician-office locations as needed.
- Support staffing needs, including occasional weekends, holidays, on-call, overtime, and schedule flexibility.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of phlebotomy experience required, including:
- Pediatric collections
- Geriatric collections
- Capillary collections
- Strong venipuncture and specimen-processing skills.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions using established procedures.
- Keyboard/data-entry experience.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with clean driving record, when applicable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Previous retail or service-industry customer-service experience preferred.
