Leasing Consultant Job Summary:


A well-established West Michigan property management company is hiring for a Leasing Consultant to support its downtown Grand Rapids properties. The ideal candidate is customer-service oriented, personable, organized, and motivated to help prospective residents find their next home. This position involves managing the leasing process from initial inquiries through move-in, processing applications, maintaining accurate resident records, and assisting with daily property operations. Strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Candidates with previous leasing, property management, sales, or administrative experience are encouraged to apply!


Leasing Consultant Responsibilities :

• Greet prospective residents and visitors, answer incoming calls, and respond to leasing inquiries
• Assist prospective residents throughout the leasing process, from initial inquiry and property tours through application approval and move-in
• Process rental applications, including verifying income, assets, rental history, and other required documentation
• Maintain accurate applicant and resident records within property management software and electronic filing systems
• Assist with lease preparation, renewals, and other resident documentation
• Ensure leasing activities and application processing comply with Fair Housing, LIHTC Section 42, HUD, MSHDA, and company guidelines
• Conduct apartment tours and communicate property features, amenities, and leasing information to prospective residents
• Follow up with prospective residents regarding application statuses, available units, and leasing opportunities
• Assist with resident communications, maintenance requests, and general property management needs
• Support occupancy goals, marketing efforts, and other administrative responsibilities as assigned

Schedule & Pay:

• Monday - Friday 9:00am-5:30pm
• $20.00/HR

Leasing Consultant Qualifications:

• Previous customer service, administrative, sales, leasing, or property management experience required
• Previous residential leasing or property management experience strongly preferred
• Knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and affordable housing programs, including LIHTC Section 42, HUD, or MSHDA, is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general computer applications
• Previous experience with property management software preferred
• Strong administrative, organizational, planning, and multitasking skills
• Ability to accurately process applications, maintain detailed records, and handle confidential information
• Comfortable working independently and making decisions with limited supervision
• Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging resident or applicant interactions professionally
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize daily responsibilities and meet deadlines
• Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to follow up with prospective residents and support property occupancy goals
• Ability to shift priorities quickly without losing attention to detail
