Position Summary Pharmacist – Retail & Clinical Medication Management. Provides leadership in optimal product preparation and dosing of medications, patient specific drug information, prevention of medication errors, and education of patients, families, and health care professionals. Operates in a retail environment and supports complex patient populations through dispensing, medication reviews, and provider interventions. Key Responsibilities Review drug orders and/or prescriptions to ensure safe, appropriate, and cost‑effective use of medications. Optimize medication preparation and resolve medication‑related problems to provide outstanding patient care. Prepare and dispense medications in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and hospital policy. Provide drug information and manage medication therapy for patients and health care providers. Supervise support personnel and verify the accuracy and appropriateness of medications prepared by them before dispensing. Conduct medication reviews, submit prior authorizations, and make direct interventions with providers to improve patient outcomes. Position Highlights Retail environment: fill discharge prescriptions, complete refills for complex patient populations, and set up mail services. Clinical component: evaluate doses and indications, submit prior authorizations, and intervene directly with providers. Weekend schedules available: Friday – Sunday 3:00pm – 11:00pm, Saturday – Sunday 1:00pm – 11:00pm. Technical Capabilities Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Advanced): Specialized knowledge of rules and regulations, process improvement, and quality assurance techniques. Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Novice): Competent use of pharmaceutical computer applications for standard support of medication use processes. Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation & Dispensing (Novice): Proficient review, preparation, and dispensing of prescribed medications with aseptic technique for sterile preparations. Medication Management (Intermediate): Skilled in assessing clinical appropriateness, dose, indication, contraindications, potential adverse effects, drug interactions, and monitoring patient laboratory results. Mentoring & Coaching (Novice): Constructive training, constructive feedback, and support for team members. Work Experience: Relevant experience in pharmacy; less than 1 year preferred. Education: Bachelor's degree (required). Certifications: None specified beyond licensure.
