Jim Brangham Auto Repair is looking for an experienced Master Diagnostic Technician to join our team in Cathedral City, California.

We are looking for someone who doesn't just replace parts—you understand how vehicle systems work, know how to test before making a recommendation, and enjoy getting to the root of a problem.

This is an opportunity for an experienced technician who wants to work in a professional, established shop where accurate diagnostics, quality repairs, and doing the job right the first time matter.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Diagnose complex check engine light and drivability concerns.
• Troubleshoot electrical, network communication, and intermittent problems.
• Perform advanced electrical testing using wiring diagrams and professional diagnostic equipment.
• Interpret scan data, live data, fuel trims, freeze-frame information, and test results.
• Diagnose and repair automotive A/C systems, including R-134a and R-1234yf .
• Diagnose emissions and vehicle performance concerns.
• Complete Digital Vehicle Inspections with clear photos and technician findings.
• Document diagnostic procedures, test results, and repair recommendations.
• Communicate findings clearly with our Service Advisors.
• Assist other technicians with challenging diagnostic problems when needed.
• Participate in ongoing technical training as vehicle technology continues to change.

What We're Looking For:

Our ideal candidate has:

• 5+ years of recent professional automotive diagnostic experience.
• Strong electrical and drivability diagnostic skills.
• Experience with professional scan tools and factory service information.
• The ability to read and understand wiring diagrams.
• A strong understanding of electrical testing and diagnostic procedures.
• Automotive A/C diagnostic and repair experience.
• The ability to work independently without needing constant supervision.
• A track record of producing consistent billed hours while maintaining quality.
• Good organization and documentation habits.
• Dependability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
• The ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.

Hybrid and EV diagnostic experience is a plus.

Certifications Can Increase Your Earning Potential:

• ASE certifications are valued and rewarded.
• Technicians holding an ASE L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification or a California Smog Check Repair Technician License may qualify for additional compensation based on experience and qualifications.
