About the Position

Prefer experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP). Description: This role involves working in a unit specializing in maternal child health. The unit has 13 LDRP beds and 2 operating room suites for cesarean sections. There are 3 triage beds available as well. The unit typically sees around 50 births per month. The staffing goal follows established guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios. Responsibilities include caring for patients who are 35 weeks gestation and above. A level 1 maternity and well-baby nursery is available for newborns. All NICU admissions and high-risk obstetric patients will be transferred. Deliveries are attended by a designated advocate nurse. Medical staff includes OB residents and attending physicians present regularly. Anesthesia support is available within specific hours. Respiratory equipment is accessible for neonates. Each room is equipped with telemetry capacity monitored by a centralized tech. Registered Nurses are required to interpret their own fetal monitor tracings. The registered nurse will be part of a structured schedule with weekend and holiday requirements. Floating may occur in situations of low census, where tasks could include patient sitting or nurse aide responsibilities. Scrubs are provided via an automated vending machine in teal color. The unit demands a minimum staffing level to ensure quality care for patients. All clinicians are required to clock in and out for their shifts. The position requires adherence to a zero tolerance policy for any violations regarding licensure. Strong communication skills and the ability to perform under pressure are essential for success in this role.
