Location 4455 EDISON LAKES PKWY,Mishawaka, IN, 46545-1414,United States Employee Type FT Non-Exempt Manage Others No Principal Functions Responsible for decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of all instruments. Reports broken equipment, instruments, and patient safety issues to the management team immediately. Position Duties 1.Supports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Organization. Follows all policies and procedures of the organization. 2.Supports risk management, quality management and improvement. 3.Adheres to sterilization process policies and procedures. 4.Cleans each item according to manufacturers' instructions for use and facility policy. 5.Verifies that each item is in good working condition; lubricates items when needed and inspects instruments for damage and defects. 6.Sorts and arranges items into correct trays and wraps trays or individual items according to Facility policy. 7.Accurately labels each item according to instructions for use and Facility policy. 8.Correctly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, and other equipment for processing items. 9.Positions items correctly in sterilizer and selects proper cycle; seeks assistance when needed. 10.Checks physical, and chemical indicator parameters have been achieved. 11.Performs required biological monitoring tests on all sterilizers according to Facility policy. 12.Maintains availability of supplies for recording continuity during the sterilization process. 13.Cleans sterilizers according to manufacturer’s specifications. 14.Maintains inventory levels and accurate records. 15.Performs weekly inspections of all sterile items in the Facility and package integrity of wrapped sterilized items; replaces items as necessary. Reprocess instrument when package is compromised. 16.Maintains adequate inventory of supplies for the sterile processing area. 17.Responsible for processing all vendor trays and ensuring all pieces are accounted for or reported missing after use. 18.Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality. Assures protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or oral disclosures. 19.Displays concern and initiative. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies. 20.Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences. 21.Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors. 22.Seeks guidance and remains knowledgeable of, and complies with, all applicable federal and state laws, as well as hospital polices that apply to assigned duties. 23.Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct. 24.Complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy. Requirements Experience: Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing. Licensure: CPR Certification within 180 days of hire. CRCST certification preferred. Skills: Demonstrate understanding of sterilization principles required. This position requires attention to accuracy and details while working with delicate equipment and machinery. Good physical dexterity. Reading, writing, and basic arithmetic skills, and basic computer skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions. Communication and customer service skills.
