Diesel Technician

What You'll Do Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Lithia and manufacturer standards. Diagnose causes of malfunction. Complete all work according to applicable safety requirements. Road‑test vehicles to ensure quality of repair work. Accurately record time spent on repairs using company time‑clocking procedures. Document work performed on repair orders and test procedures/results. Maintain a personal inventory of normal mechanics tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, socket wrenches, pliers, hammers, chisels and punches, and other tools needed for your training; return special tools to their proper place. Use shop supplies and materials in a practical and economical manner. Maintain an organized and clean workspace, performing a stall cleaning each day. Ensure customer vehicles are returned clean as they were prior to service. Complete all required training and maintain manufacturer and ASE certifications. Participate in technical training as assigned by management and review technical bulletins and other publications. Communicate constructively with dealership personnel to satisfy customer needs. Report any situations that jeopardize dealership safety, welfare, or integrity to management. Maintain personal grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards according to departmental policies. Adhere to work schedules, including arrival, break, and departure times designated by management. What You'll Bring Strong attention to detail. Sense of urgency. Excellent communication skills. Experience and competence in performing repairs in the following areas with no supervision: Lube and Maintenance Services Engine Repair Automatic Transmission Manual Drive Train Repair Suspension/Steering Repair Brake Repair Electrical/Electrical Systems Repair Hybrid/Alternative Fuels Heating and A/C Repair Engine Drivability Diagnosis and Repair (optional) Certification / Training Manufacturer certification in all areas listed above. Minimum of 6 ASE certifications (ASE Master Technician preferred). State emissions certification or smog license as applicable. Customer Pay proficiency level greater than 115% customer pay repairs. Five or more years of automotive technical experience preferred. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
