Occupational Therapist – PART TIME (FLEXIBLE HOURS)

 

Location: Mount Airy, MD

Hours: Part-Time, Day Shift, M-F, Flexible Hours

Contract length: 13 Weeks

Pay: $56/hour

Position Summary: The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, and provides occupational therapy services to residents in accordance with physician orders, regulatory requirements, and individualized care plans. The Occupational Therapist promotes independence, safety, functional ability, and quality of life while supporting rehabilitation and discharge goals.

 

Essential Functions

• Evaluate residents within established timeframes and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Establish measurable short-term and long-term goals and involve residents and families in the care planning process.
• Provide occupational therapy treatments consistent with physician orders and resident needs.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care conferences, and discharge planning activities.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, residents, families, and other departments regarding resident progress and treatment needs.
• Recommend and secure adaptive equipment and durable medical equipment as appropriate.
• Provide education and training to residents, families, caregivers, and staff.
• Monitor resident progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.
• Maintain productivity standards while ensuring quality resident care.
• Complete evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, discharge summaries, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
• Maintain documentation in accordance with CMS, state, federal, professional, and facility requirements.
• Record treatment charges and related information according to facility procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and protect resident information at all times.
• Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
• Assist with program development and department initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend solutions.
• Provide staff education and in-service training as assigned.
• Serve as a clinical resource and student mentor when applicable.

 

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Current state Occupational Therapist license in good standing. Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or rehabilitation preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, transfer, and assist residents throughout the workday. Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
