Position Summary

Olson Construction & Remodeling is seeking a skilled Concrete Finisher to join our growing team. This position is responsible for placing and finishing residential concrete foundations, basement floors, garage slabs, patios, sidewalks, driveways, and other flatwork. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing clean, durable, and professional concrete work while contributing to a safe, efficient, and organized jobsite.

Key Responsibilities

Concrete Placement & Finishing

• Place, screed, bull float, edge, groove, broom finish, hand trowel, and power trowel concrete.
• Finish basement floors, garage slabs, patios, sidewalks, driveways, porches, and other residential flatwork.
• Assist with poured concrete foundations and footings.
• Install vapor barriers, reinforcement, rigid insulation, and control joints as required.
• Ensure proper curing and protection of finished concrete.

Jobsite Responsibilities

• Assist with forming, stripping forms, and jobsite preparation.
• Read tape measures and assist with layout as directed.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
• Load, unload, and care for tools, equipment, and materials.
• Work closely with crew members and supervisors to keep projects on schedule.

Equipment Operation

• Operate power trowels, concrete saws, plate compactors, vibrators, and other finishing equipment.
• Assist with operating skid steers and other construction equipment when qualified.
• Perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance of tools and equipment.

Quality & Safety

• Follow Olson Construction's quality standards on every project.
• Work safely and comply with OSHA safety requirements.
• Identify and report potential quality or safety concerns.
• Help ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and professionally.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of concrete finishing experience preferred.
• Experience with residential concrete foundations and flatwork.
• Ability to produce quality broom, hand trowel, and power trowel finishes.
• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with residential foundations and flatwork.
• Ability to read construction plans and elevations.
• Experience operating skid steers or construction equipment.
• Knowledge of concrete forming and reinforcement installation.
• CDL is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Stand, bend, kneel, squat, and climb throughout the workday.
• Work outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and dusty conditions.
• Perform physically demanding work for extended periods during peak construction season.
