Pharmacy Technician
Location: Westfield, MA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Pharmacy Technician to support hospital pharmacy operations during a temporary coverage assignment. This role focuses on medication distribution, automated dispensing cabinet replenishment, inventory management, and medication order processing. The ideal candidate has experience with automated dispensing systems, works well independently, and is committed to maintaining accuracy and safe medication handling practices.
Key Responsibilities

• Refill and restock Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital.
• Sort and organize medication deliveries from the central distribution center.
• Scan medication barcodes and ensure medications are placed in the appropriate dispensing cabinets.
• Complete automated dispensing cabinet replenishment, inventory, and medication wasting functions.
• Conduct monthly medication inspections and assist with stock rotation and removal of expired medications.
• Support medication preparation, packaging, inventory management, and distribution.
• Process returned medications for credit or appropriate disposal.
• Enter patient and medication order information into pharmacy management systems.
• Coordinate with pharmacists, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members to support timely medication distribution.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
• Follow all applicable pharmacy regulations, medication safety standards, and institutional policies.
• Perform additional pharmacy support duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician registration or license, as applicable.
• Current PTCB national certification or another recognized national pharmacy technician certification.
• At least one year of relevant experience.
• Experience with automated dispensing cabinets, particularly Omnicell systems. Candidates with less experience should have direct automated dispensing cabinet experience.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Professional communication skills and the ability to collaborate with pharmacy and nursing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of pharmacy technician experience.
• Previous hospital or acute-care pharmacy experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Omnicell or similar automated dispensing systems.
• Experience working closely with pharmacists and nursing staff.

Schedule and Work Environment

• Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.
• Day shift with no weekend requirement.
• Business casual attire or scrubs.
