Greenhouse Manager

East Missouri Action Agency has an opening for a Greenhouse Manager at Central Office in Park Hills. The Greenhouse Manager will work to perform activities associated with greenhouse systems including but not limited to: assisting the program coordinator in preparing and growing media, planting and cultivating assorted plants, and participating in various horticultural activities. This position requires knowledge of greenhouse production and business development with a proven ability to self-motivate and work independently. Responsibilities Overall management of greenhouse facilities, staff, production and inventory including but not limited to: management and basic upkeep of facility, planting and harvesting crops, general day‑to‑day management of greenhouse, and deliveries for the greenhouse. Reading and understanding complex labels on chemical and fertilizer containers and complying with safety protocols. Mixing nutrient solutions and following chemical formulas, including weighing, measuring and calculating volumes with precision. Managing and instructing interns in seeding, growing and harvesting plants. Understanding, monitoring climate control and utilizing a computerized control system. Identifying plant problems and conditions and responding with appropriate solutions. Basic computer skills to maintain accurate records, track plant health, document nutrient application dates and rates and cycles of preventative maintenance, as well as for forecasting spreadsheets and inventory management. Tracking and resupplying inventory to maintain plant production in a timely manner. Developing and updating greenhouse safety policies & procedures and providing training to appropriate personnel. Developing and following hygienic procedures and obtaining third‑party certifications if needed. Building relationships with customers (individuals, restaurants, retail markets) and developing client base. Interacting in a professional manner in person, on the phone, and via email with potential clients and the public who may come by for tours or to purchase produce. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. 2‑year Degree or More in Horticulture, Greenhouse Technology, Agriculture or Related Field. At least 6 months of hands‑on experience in the related field. Graduation from High School with 3 years of horticulture work or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be accepted. Experience with plant cultivation, food distribution, plant propagation and harvesting, inventory control, order fulfillment & quality assurance. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more. Ability to climb & work on a 12‑foot ladder. Ability to bend, kneel, twist and stoop throughout the work day. Ability to work in a greenhouse with a wide temperature & humidity range. Ability to use small hand tools, sprayers, & power equipment. A valid Missouri driver's license & insurance. Must maintain good attendance.
